Breast Health Accreditations
Breast Imaging Center of Excellence (BICOE)
The Susan Sheppard McGillicuddy Breast Center at St. Anthony's Hospital is recognized by the American College of Radiology (ACR) as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence (BICOE). This designation is awarded to breast imaging centers that achieve excellence by seeking and earning accreditation in all of the American College of Radiology's voluntary breast-imaging accreditation programs and modules, in addition to the mandatory Mammography Accreditation Program.
Breast Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Accredited Facility
The St. Anthony's Hospital MRI Department is recognized by the American College of Radiology (ACR) as a Breast MRI Accredited Facility. The Breast MRI Accreditation Program provides facilities performing breast MRI procedures with peer review and constructive feedback on their staff's qualifications, equipment, quality control, quality assurance, MR safety policies and image quality.
Breast Ultrasound Accredited Facility
The Susan Sheppard McGillicuddy Breast Center at St. Anthony's Hospital is recognized by the American College of Radiology (ACR) as a Breast Ultrasound Accredited Facility. The Breast Ultrasound Accreditation Program provides facilities performing breast ultrasound and ultrasound-guided breast biopsies peer review and constructive feedback on their staff's qualifications, equipment, quality control, quality assurance, accuracy of needle placement and image quality.
Mammography Accredited Facility
Both the Susan Sheppard McGillicuddy Breast Center and BayCare Outpatient Imaging at St. Anthony's Hospital are recognized by the American College of Radiology (ACR) as Mammography Accredited Facilities. The Mammography Accreditation Program provides facilities with peer review and constructive feedback on staff qualifications, equipment, quality control, quality assurance, image quality and radiation dose. The 1992 Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) requires that all mammography facilities in the United States be accredited.
National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC)
St. Anthony's Hospital is proud to be the only hospital in St. Petersburg with a breast program that has been accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC). A breast center that achieves NAPBC accreditation has demonstrated a firm commitment to offering its patients every significant advantage in their battle against breast disease.
Stereotactic Breast Biopsy Accredited Facility
The Susan Sheppard McGillicuddy Breast Center at St. Anthony's Hospital is recognized by the American College of Radiology (ACR) as a Stereotactic Breast Biopsy Accredited Facility. The Stereotactic Breast Biopsy Accreditation Program provides facilities performing stereotactic breast biopsy procedures with peer review and constructive feedback on their staff's qualifications, equipment, quality control, quality assurance, accuracy of needle placement, image quality and dose.
