TrueBeam Radiation Treatment System

Winter Haven Hospital’s Cassidy Cancer Center is delivering leading edge treatment for cancer patients with a new Varian TrueBeam™ radiation treatment system. This fast, powerful and noninvasive system allows for patients to be treated for cancer with less fear and anxiety. Patients are treated in less time, with pinpoint accuracy and without a surgical incision.

The TrueBeam linear accelerator improves the speed, power and precision of radiation therapy. Streamlined imaging and patient positioning tools enable increased flexibility to treat cancer throughout the body. Quick treatments, reduced X-ray exposure and high, accurate dose rates are benefits of the TrueBeam’s 4-D imaging system. Simple treatments that would typically take 10 minutes can be completed in less than two minutes. Complex treatment that typically takes 40 minutes to an hour can be completed in just five to 20 minutes.

The TrueBeam system is not appropriate for all cancers. Treatment times may vary. Typical side effects include, but are not limited to, skin changes, fatigue, diarrhea, hair loss, nausea and vomiting, urinary and bladder changes, or trouble swallowing. Serious side effects may occur.
