Kid’s CardioConnect™

The Kid’s CardioConnect™ program at St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital ensures that our pediatric cardiology patients get the most comprehensive, quality care.

How It Works

The pediatric cardiovascular surgical team at St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital performs hundreds of cardiac surgical procedures every year and treats all types of congenital and acquired heart disorders. We’ve partnered with Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC (University of Pittsburgh Medical Center) for pediatric heart services with their expert cardiac intensivists to monitor our patients via video visits.

Video monitors allow the UPMC physicians to observe the St. Joseph’s pediatric cardiology patients 24 hours a day, seven days a week from Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh. Using CardioConnect, the UPMC physicians can see the child's vital signs at all times. Changes in condition can quickly be seen and treated.

With the technology of the video monitor, children with complex conditions can be seen by both the St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital and UPMC teams simultaneously. They can collaborate and discuss the child's comprehensive care/treatment. This special attention means that kids may get to leave the hospital sooner and start their recovery at home with their loved ones.
