Corey Shapiro is an advanced practice registered nurse specializing in adult congenital heart disease and is with BayCare Medical Group in Tampa, Florida, where she sees patients age 18 and older. She received a Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, and earned a Master of Science in nursing from the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida. Corey’s clinical interests include adult congenital heart disease, heart failure, longitudinal follow-up of patients with repaired congenital cardiac defects and supporting the transition of patients with congenital heart disease from pediatric to adult-focused cardiac care. She provides comprehensive cardiovascular care for adults, with a focus on patients living with congenital heart disease and subsequent complex cardiac conditions.
Corey has experience managing complex chronic and cardiovascular disease with an emphasis on longitudinal care, care coordination and patient education. She’s passionate about public health and health equity, informed by years of clinical and leadership experience at a free clinic serving uninsured and medically underserved populations. Ms. Shapiro is certified in advanced cardiovascular life support and basic life support. She’s a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the Tampa Bay Advanced Practice Nurse Council, Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi.
