BayCare Goes Green

At BayCare, we know being eco-conscious is the right thing to do and is a natural extension of our dedication to serve the community, which has been at the core of who we are as an organization since day one. As a community-owned, not-for-profit health system, we exist to serve, and we are extending that commitment beyond health care to include doing what we can to prevent waste and minimize unnecessary consumption of natural resources.

A few key initiatives to “go green” and reduce our carbon footprint on the communities we serve include:

  • Promoting all efforts of our recycling program and encouraging reduction of consumption and reuse of materials
  • Using certified eco-friendly cleaning materials and products that reduce environmental impact
  • Implementing environmentally responsible building improvements, such as flooring that requires less waxing, energy-efficient air handlers and LED light bulbs throughout many of our facilities
  • Switching from plastic straws and stirrers at our hospital cafés, and using napkins made from 100% recycled materials
  • Recycling hazardous materials in our hospital division and encouraging secure e-recycling
  • Adopting a “Think Before You Print” campaign to encourage all our team members to reduce the amount of printing they do, whether they work from home or in a BayCare building
