Humanity at Work: Don't Hesitate
Even during a pandemic, you still need to be treated immediately if you have an emergency. Debating whether or not to risk going to an emergency room during a heart attack, stroke or other health emergency—waiting even a few extra minutes—could be harmful. So if it’s an emergency, don’t wait. For more information: BayCareEmergencyCare.org.

Way Up.
Amateur motocross racing champion Robert Noa never lets anything slow him down. Especially during a winning streak. But the bone-on-bone hip pain caused by arthritis had become unbearable. He knew he needed a total hip replacement but didn’t want his winning streak to end. That’s why he chose BayCare’s Morton Plant Hospital, where 90 percent of hip replacement patients are up and walking within 24 hours. Our orthopedic Nurse Navigator helped Robert prepare for surgery and coordinated his rehab so he was fully recovered in only 12 weeks, between racing seasons. He kept his winning streak alive and, more importantly, he left his pain in the dust. #HumanityAtWork

A penny measures 19.5 millimeters in diameter. The opening that doctors at BayCare need to treat most strokes only measures 3 millimeters. Because the procedure is so minimally invasive, patients can recover a lot faster from a stroke and get back to living life as soon as possible. BayCare has 11 hospitals designated as primary stroke centers, whose sole purpose is perfecting small things like this that can make for big recoveries. Our primary stroke centers are located throughout Tampa Bay, so no matter where you live in the four counties we serve, you’re never far from one. For more information or to find the nearest stroke center: BayCareStroke.org. #HumanityAtWork
Humanity at Work Series: Like Mother. Like Daughter. Like Granddaughter.
Three generations of the same family all share a special BayCare connection. In 1958, Mary Jane Martinez gave birth to Sharon at St. Joseph’s Hospital. In 1986, Sharon gave birth to Lydia at St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital. And in 2018, Lydia gave birth to Summer at St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital. You could call it a family tradition since 1958, but it’s been a Tampa tradition since 1934. Our mothers receive extraordinary care in rooms that have a comfortable, home-like feel, and they have access to the most advanced equipment and services available. At BayCare, family-centered care is important to us, so we offer rooming-in, which allows mom to have baby with her around the clock. And of course, the rest of the family is welcome to visit every day. #HumanityAtWork
Humanity at Work Series: It’s An Honor To Be Recognized
We’re honored and excited to be recognized for our performance by IBM Watson Health, who ranked us in the top 20 percent of large health systems in the country. BayCare is the only health system in Florida to achieve this prestigious honor. This achievement wouldn’t be possible without all of our 28,400 physicians and team members delivering their highest quality performance each and every day. #HumanityAtWork
