How can I find a BayCare Laboratory?

BayCare Laboratories are located throughout Tampa Bay and the surrounding areas. Finding a location close to you is easy. Simply find a BayCare Laboratory online, or call (855) 269-3777 for assistance. 

How can I make an appointment at a BayCare Laboratory?

It’s easy to make an appointment online at many of our BayCare Laboratory locations. Simply Save Your Spot, and you’ll receive text updates when it’s time to show up so that you can skip the wait. 

How should I prepare for my visit to a BayCare Laboratory?

So that your test date goes smoothly, please remember to:

  • Bring a written physician’s order for the test (this is necessary for all lab work).
  • Bring eyeglasses with you to complete paperwork if necessary.
  • Bring your health insurance card with you so we can create a copy on file.
  • Be prepared to provide a urine sample if your physician has ordered one.
  • Wear loose-fitting or short-sleeved clothing (you may bring a sweater or jacket, as temperatures are cooler in labs).

Don’t forget to check with your physician for instructions regarding any necessary test preparations. If you need to fast, please do not eat or drink anything for 10 to 12 hours before your test. You may drink water and brush your teeth.

Will insurance cover my lab test?

BayCare is committed to providing you with timely, quality service at our laboratories. For your convenience, we accept more than 100 insurance plans. Please contact your insurance provider before coming for lab work to ensure that your services will be covered. For our Medicare patients, 100 percent of your lab work will be covered as long as we receive the proper information from your physician. Please have your physician provide us with the Medicare diagnosis codes—the codes that describe the specific tests you need. Without this information, you will have the option to sign an Advanced Beneficiary Notification (ABN) form, which acknowledges you are willing to be financially responsible for the testing if Medicare does not pay. Our staff will provide you with all costs before performing any test, so you can make an informed decision. You may, of course, choose not to sign the ABN and not to have the testing, in which case, we will let your physician know. 

How can I get my lab results?

Your lab results will be sent to your physician within two business days, with the exception of some special tests, which may take longer. For your convenience, our staff can tell you if your results may take more than two business days for your physician to receive. Also, if you have an out-of-town or out-of-state physician, please give us the physician’s contact information, and we will forward your test results. For a copy of your results, you may contact your physician’s office directly.
