How Cardiac Rehabilitation Works

A senior citizen man jogging on a hillYou'll exercise three times a week for one hour each time. Your exercise sessions will be monitored by a professional. During each session, your heart rate and rhythm will be continuously monitored. Your blood pressure will be taken before and after your exercise program.

A typical cardiac rehab session includes:

  • Warm-up exercises for 8 to 10 minutes
  • Aerobic activities such as walking, cycling and rowing for 20 to 30 minutes
  • Cool-down exercises for 8 to 10 minutes

Your exercise "prescription" will be adjusted throughout your program as your cardiovascular health improves. Progress reports will be sent to your physician. Of course, our center has medical equipment necessary to handle any emergency situation that might arise. In addition to exercise, we emphasize education for both you and your family. This education focuses on nutritional guidance, stress management and modification of risk factors.
