Expectations for You

At the Morton Plant Rehabilitation Center, we strive to provide you with the best care possible. You and your family/caregiver are an integral part of our team. It is very important for you to actively and willing participate in your rehabilitation to achieve success in your rehabilitation.

  • Participating in morning care/activities of daily living (ADL) including dressing, grooming, bathing, toileting, self-care
  • Participating in physical therapy (exercises to improve strength, flexibility, activity tolerance and balance, bed mobility and transfer training, gait training, stair climbing)
  • Participating in occupational therapy (exercises with specific focus on the upper body, balance, self-care and ADL training, hand dexterity and coordination training)
  • Participating in speech therapy if indicated (language, swallow techniques and cognitive training)

Daily Activities

There are six different units within Morton Plant Rehabilitation Center. Depending on which unit you are on (1S, 1E, 1N, 2S, 2E, 2N), it will determine when you receive your meals. Typically breakfast is served between 7-8am. Your morning may begin with occupational therapy, and assisting you with activities of daily living (e.g., grooming, dressing, etc.). You will then participate in one or more of these therapies: physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and/or recreational therapy. Following lunch, your therapy program continues. Dinner is served at approximately 5pm. Evening hours may be spent with family and friends.

Medications

Your medications will be provided according to your physician’s orders. The nursing staff will deliver and administer your medications to you. If you prefer to self-administer your medications, tell your nurse and arrangements can be made for self-administration of medication.

Meals

Meals are served in our dining room or in the patient’s room. Meals are prepared at the facility. Family members can order a guest tray for an additional cost. A notebook is located at bedside with more information about meal services. Additionally, pantries stocked with nutritional snacks and beverages are located on each floor if you desire something between meals.

There are two television lounge areas for family visitations as well as an outside patio area. In the main lobby, we have a Serenity Room for visitation or meditation.
