BayCare Hospitals Welcome New Physician Leaders

BayCare today announced the appointment of longtime executive Mark Vaaler, MD, as chief medical officer of BayCare Hospital Wesley Chapel, the health system’s first hospital to bear its name.
In his new role, Vaaler will help develop the medical staff for the new hospital in eastern Pasco County, which is scheduled to open in early 2023.
The move opened up opportunities for other physician leaders as well.
In Hillsborough County, Christopher Bucciarelli, MD, MBA, has expanded his role as chief medical officer at St. Joseph’s Hospital-South in Riverview to include the same responsibilities for St. Joseph’s Hospital-North in Lutz.
Meanwhile in Polk County, John Davidyock, MD, has added Bartow Regional Medical Center to responsibilities as chief medical officer, which also include Winter Haven Hospital and Winter Haven Women’s Hospital.
Dr. Vaaler previously served as chief medical officer for both St. Joseph’s Hospital-North and Bartow Regional Hospital.
