Couple in Their 90's Tie the Knot at John Knox Village

When 90-year-old Fran Pearson went on her first date with 95-year-old Dick Stanton she told him she didn’t want anything serious and she wasn’t looking for a commitment. She had been married for 57 years and didn’t want to lose her freedom. Now she says, “Never say never”. The couple, who reside at John Knox Village in Tampa, will be married in the chapel at the retirement facility on Saturday, March 14 at 2 p.m.

The pair had seen each other in the hallways of John Knox Village, but didn’t spend a lot of time together until Fran became the organization’s Assistant Treasurer. Dick happened to be the Treasurer. He heard her talking about how much she liked latte’s from Starbuck’s, so they went on their first date to the coffee house and that’s where he proposed a month ago on Valentine’s Day.

Fran says the couple stays busy with volunteer work, outings with John Knox Village and he keeps her young by challenging her to do new things like go on rides at Busch Gardens and jump into swimming pools.

The couple will celebrate their marriage with their family and other residents of John Knox Village.
