MPM Invites Adult Cancer Survivors to Camp Living Springs

July 23, 2015

CLEARWATER, Fla., (July 23, 2015) -- Morton Plant Mease Volunteer Resources, in partnership with the YMCA of the Suncoast, will once again host Camp Living Springs, a free weekend retreat for adult cancer survivors.

The three-day retreat, Oct. 16-18, offers cancer survivors the opportunity to get away from the stress of everyday life and share their experiences. All meals, lodging, activities, and transportation are provided through a community outreach grant from the Morton Plant Mease Foundation.

Camp Living Springs will be at the Day Spring Conference Center in Ellenton, a 100-acre wooded property near the Manatee River with modern, climate-controlled facilities. Activities include canoeing, fishing, nature trails, campfires, yoga, crafts and entertainment and are planned to help campers celebrate life as well as nurture their spirit.

To attend, campers must be over 18, ambulatory and have been diagnosed with cancer.

Applications to attend Camp Living Springs are available by calling Morton Plant Hospital Volunteer Resources at (727) 461-8010 or online at www.baycare.org/mph/volunteering/camp-living-springs. The deadline is Friday, August 21. Space is limited so campers are encouraged to apply early.

Camp Living Springs has been honored with the Daily Points of Light Award and the Extraordinary Program Award from the American Society for Directors of Volunteer Services.
