BayCare Urgent Care Location Opening in Clearwater

December 03, 2015

CLEARWATER, Fla., (Dec. 3, 2015) – BayCare, which has opened eight BayCare Urgent Care Centers since 2014 throughout the Tampa Bay area, will open the ninth location on Dec. 7. The center, which will be at 711 S Belcher Road, Clearwater, helps BayCare continue its commitment to provide access to exceptional treatment for minor illnesses or injuries.

The center will be the third BayCare Urgent Care located in Pinellas County. A fourth Pinellas County location is scheduled to open just before Christmas near Mease Countryside Hospital. BayCare began opening its urgent care centers in Fall 2014.

“It is our vision at BayCare to provide efficient, friendly and individualized care to the community when they need it the most,” said Nathan Keith Waldrep, MD, director of physician services, BayCare Urgent Care. “Our BayCare Urgent Care teams are trained to provide treatment in a timely manner so that minor aches, sprains and illnesses do not become more serious.”

Patients also can go online to make a reservation at any BayCare Urgent Care location through Save Your Spot. Using a mobile device or computer, patients can make reservations and receive alerts to update wait times or to change reservations if necessary.

“We recognize that time is important when you or a loved one is not feeling well,” Dr. Waldrep said. “Patients can wait wherever they choose before going to their nearby BayCare Urgent Care and reduce the amount of time spent in the waiting room.”

All of BayCare’s Urgent Care Centers are fully equipped to provide a total care experience including X-rays, lab work, EKGs and dispensing of certain medications. Among the medical conditions that may be treated without an appointment are minor illnesses and injuries, flu and colds, sprains and strains, minor cuts, stings and burns.

BayCare Urgent Care Centers offer flu shots, school and sports physicals, as well as occupational health services including post-hire physicals, drug screenings, treatment of workplace injuries, vaccinations and corporate wellness.

For patients needing a higher level of care, the center can offer efficient coordination of care through BayCare’s integrated health system.
