Healing, Spirituality Conference Celebrates 10th Anniversary by Helping Caregivers Learn Art of Self Compassion

CLEARWATER, Fla., (March 18, 2014) - Caregivers typically put the needs of others before their own, which can cause burn out, fatigue and feelings of depletion. The 10th annual Healing and Spirituality Conference, sponsored by BayCare Health System, Morton Plant Mease Foundation and Suncoast Hospice, teaches caretakers how to balance their own needs with the continual demands of caring for others.

Keynote speaker Joyce Rupp, author and spiritual midwife, explains the science, theology, spirituality and psychology that proves how we care for ourselves directly impacts how we care for others. She encourages participants to reflect upon their personal and professional experiences with compassion to reenergize their ability to offer compassionate care for one’s self and for those in the midst of pain and struggle.

Conference attendees in nursing, clergy and physical therapy are eligible for continuing education credits, along with other disciplines and will receive a certificate of attendance upon completion. The conference also provides continental breakfast, lunch, door prizes and chair massages.
