Morton Plant Mease Invites Adult Cancer Survivors to Attend Camp Living Springs
16th Annual Retreat Designed for Relaxation and Fun to Nurture the Spirit
CLEARWATER, Fla., (August 5, 2014) – Morton Plant Mease Volunteer Resources invite adult cancer survivors to the 16th annual Camp Living Springs, a three day weekend retreat giving cancer survivors the chance to leave behind daily routines and obligations and nurture their spirit. This year’s event will be October 17 – 19, 2014, and is presented in partnership with the YMCA of the Suncoast.
Every year, 75 adult cancer survivors (men and women, age 18 and older) are transported to a 100-acre retreat near the Manatee River in Ellenton to participate in many outdoor activities including canoeing, fishing, nature walks, and campfires. There’s also restorative yoga, crafts, and nightly entertainment. It also allows cancer survivors to bond and share their experiences.
All meals, lodging, activities, and transportation are provided through a community outreach grant from the Morton Plant Mease Foundation. Camp Living Springs has been honored with the Daily Points of Light Award and the Extraordinary Program Award from the American Society for Directors of Volunteer Services.
Applications to attend Camp Living Springs are available by calling Morton Plant Hospital Volunteer Resources at (727) 461-8010. The deadline is Wednesday, August 22, 2014. With space limited, campers are encouraged to apply early.
