Miss Tampa 2014 Helps Cancer Survivors Celebrate Life

April 03, 2014

Hundreds of cancer survivors and their families will be recognized at celebration on Saturday

Tampa, Fla., (April 3, 2014)- More than 200 cancer survivors will join Katy Sartain, Miss Tampa 2014, to celebrate life on Saturday, April 5, at the third annual Cancer Survivors Celebration at St. Joseph’s Hospital’s Medical Arts Building.

This day of celebration is a chance for survivors to share stories, support each other and offer hope and inspiration to newly diagnosed patients. It’s also an opportunity to reconnect with caregivers that guided them on their journey with cancer. An award will also be given out to a physician, nominated by patients and/or staff, who provided the best example of compassionate care. The celebration also includes:

  • Free food and drink
  • Art exhibit
  • Guest photo area
  • Pet Therapy Team
  • Vendor Area
  • Raffle
  • Extraordinary Care Award Presentation

Celebrating survivorship is personal for Sartain, who lost both her uncle and her grandmother to the disease within the past decade. According to the American Cancer Society, there are approximately 13.7 million cancer survivors in our country, which include patients still fighting the disease and those who are cancer-free.
