    • Dr. Wael Hijaz is a hospitalist with St. Joseph’s Hospital. He provides only inpatient care within a hospital setting and is not available for appointments. He will be responsible for you and your loved one’s care while in our hospital and will partner with your primary care physician on any necessary follow-up care to assist with your continued care, once you return to your home. Dr. Hijaz specializes in internal medicine. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE) in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He continued his medical education by completing an internal medicine residency at St. John’s Riverside Hospital in Yonkers, New York. In addition to English, Dr. Hijaz also speaks both Spanish and Arabic. Dr. Hijaz is certified in advanced cardiac life support and basic life support. He is a member of the American College of Physicians and the American Medical Association and works primarily with St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa, Florida.
