Dr. Vijay Hegde is a board-certified neurologist serving the Clearwater, Florida area as part of BayCare Medical Group, where he sees patients age 18 and older. Dr. Hegde earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Miami, Florida. He followed that up with an internal medicine internship at the Naval Medical Center-Portsmouth in Portsmouth, Virginia. Dr. Hegde continued his medical education by completing a neurology residency at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.
As a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom with 20 years of experience as a commissioned officer in the United States Navy, Dr. Hegde treats traumatic brain injury and is proficient in common areas of general neurology such as migraine, epilepsy, nerve entrapments and multiple sclerosis. He is experienced in with dealing with common inpatient neurologic conditions such as stroke, epilepsy, and encephalopathy in an inpatient setting. Dr. Hegde is a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is affiliated with Morton Plant Hospital.
