    • Dr. Steven Wakeman specializes in adult and pediatric neurosurgery and is part of BayCare Medical Group in Tampa, Florida where he sees patients of all ages. He completed his Bachelor of Science in chemistry from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in Champaign, Illinois. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from Rush Medical College in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Wakeman continued his medical education by completing a neurosurgery residency at Virginia Commonwealth University Health in Richmond, Virginia, followed by a pediatric neurosurgery fellowship at Indiana University Health/Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis, Indiana. Dr. Wakeman treats pediatric disorders of the brain and nervous system, meninges, skull, pituitary gland, spinal cord, vertebral column, cranial and spinal nerves. He has special interests in pediatric and adult hydrocephalus, spina bifida, spasticity, epilepsy, and minimally invasive endoscopic surgery. He has made numerous presentations, published peer-reviewed articles, and participated in clinical research and remains active in medical device development.
