Shannon Schmelzer is a board-certified pediatric nurse practitioner and is with BayCare Medical Group in Tampa Bay, Florida, where she sees patients from birth to age 21. She received a Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia, and completed a Master of Science in nursing from the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. Shannon has more than 20 years of inpatient pediatric cardiology experience. She performs comprehensive physical assessments, diagnoses and manages acute and chronic cardiac disorders in the pediatric population, and develops individualized care plans with multidisciplinary teams. Shannon is certified in basic life support and pediatric advanced life support. She’s affiliated with St. Joseph’s Hospital and St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital.
