Dr. Sarah Jones Sapienza is board certified in pediatric and general surgery and is with BayCare Medical Group in Tampa, Florida, where she sees patients from birth to age 18. She earned a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark, New Jersey, completed her general surgery residency and chief residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and performed a pediatric surgery fellowship at Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo in Buffalo, New York.
Dr. Jones Sapienza’s clinical interests include abdominal tumors, chest wall deformities, congenital anomalies, pediatric gallbladder disease, pediatric pilonidal disease and pediatric trauma. She has a special interest in injury prevention and treatment. Dr. Jones Sapienza performs examinations, discusses follow-up care and ensures that patients and their families understand the treatment plan. She’s a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Section on Surgery, the American Pediatric Surgical Association, the Pediatric Trauma Society and the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Jones Sapienza is affiliated with St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital, where she serves as the medical director of pediatric trauma.
