    Dr. Roth was absolutely exemplary with the care he provided from my initial visit with him, through the surgical procedure, and on through the follow-up care.     • Dr. Robert Roth has been practicing medicine for over 20 years. He earned his undergraduate degree in chemical engineering from The University of Michigan, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He completed his medical degree at Michigan State University - College of Human Medicine in East Lansing, Michigan. His training in general surgery was completed at Washington Hospital Center- Medstar Health, followed by a fellowship in trauma and critical care in Washington, DC. Dr. Roth has been in the Tampa Bay area since 2001 and has been very active in the BayCare Health System since. His interests are in all aspects of surgery including minimally invasive and robotic surgery. Procedures performed include abdominal surgeries, but not limited to diseases of the gallbladder, hernias of the abdominal wall (umbilical and inguinal areas), colon and rectal cancer, surgical diseases of the small bowel, breast cancer surgery, and peritoneal dialysis catheter placement. Dr. Roth also practices at the East Lake Wound Care Center and practices hyperbaric medicine and wound care, where he serves as medical director. He treats all types of wounds including diabetic wounds, venous stasis ulcers, traumatic and surgical wounds. Dr. Roth was chief of surgery at the Mease Hospitals for 6 years and has been elected medical staff president for the term of 2024-2026. In 2020, he was awarded the Bernard Macik Distinguished Physician Award. Dr. Roth is a diplomat of the American Board of Surgery and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
