    Dr Richard Rodriguez is a very kind, caring, personable, and knowledgeable surgeon. He performed a small intestine resection on my 91 year old mother from which she recovered extremely well. Also, he recently removed melanoma from my back. I will continue to recommend him to anyone in need of a surgeon.

    • Dr. Richard Rodriguez is board-certified in general surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons. Dr. Rodriguez has been serving our community since 1995. Dr. Rodriguez specializes in all aspects of general surgery including minimally invasive and robotic operations. He performs a wide variety of office surgical procedures as well as managing anorectal problems and performing colonoscopies. Dr. Rodriguez is a University of Miami alumni and completed a masters in public health degree from the University of Miami Miller College of Medicine. He then earned his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed a general surgery residency at NSU/Sun Coast Hospital in Largo, Florida. Dr. Rodriguez serves as the medical director of the Morton Plant Hospital Center for Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine. He has served as both chief of surgery and medical staff president at Morton Plant Hospital. He served as chairman of the Florida Board of Osteopathic Medicine under Governor Bush. He is an active member of the American Board of Osteopathic Surgery, the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, the American Association of Osteopathic Examiners and the American Osteopathic Association. He has received distinguished service awards from both the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association and the Pinellas County Osteopathic Medical Association as well as recognition for distinguished physician leadership by the Morton Plant Mease Health Care Foundation. Dr. Rodriguez is a clinical professor for the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine and the NSU Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Rodriguez is affiliated with Morton Plant Hospital and is part of BayCare Medical Group where he sees patients ages 18 and older. Dr. Rodriguez is bilingual, fluent in Spanish. He is affiliated with Morton Plant Hospital.
