Doctor Bio
Dr. Richard Cain is board certified in shoulder and elbow surgery for BayCare Medical Group, where he sees patients age 18 and older in Tampa, Florida. He treats patients with a spectrum of conditions including extremity fractures, sport related injuries and general musculoskeletal issues. His specific clinical interests include shoulder replacement, complex shoulder reconstruction, rotator cuff repair, shoulder instability, and upper extremity trauma.
Prior to joining BayCare Medical Group, Dr. Cain completed a fellowship in shoulder and elbow surgery at the Cleveland Clinic. He also served as a chief resident at the University of South Florida’s Orthopaedic Residency Program in Tampa. Dr. Cain is active in shoulder and elbow research and has authored a number of publications and book chapters, including presenting at regional and national conferences. His current research interests include pre-operative planning for shoulder replacement and the correction of factors that may lead improved implant longevity. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, and the Florida Orthopaedic Society.
