Dr. Ramanath S. Rao is board certified in cardiovascular disease and is with BayCare Medical Group in Wesley Chapel and Zephyrhills, Florida, where he sees patients age 18 and older. He earned a medical degree from the University of Mysore Medical College in Mysore, India, and completed an internal medicine residency at the State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. Dr. Rao completed a cardiology fellowship at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, New York and an interventional cardiology fellowship at Case Western Reserve University Hospitals in Cleveland, Ohio.
Dr. Rao specializes in performing heart catheterizations and vascular interventions and manages peripheral arterial and venous diseases. He treats patients who have advanced heart failure, coronary artery disease, heart valve disorders, hypertension and complex lipid disorders. His research work in heart failure has been published in Circulation, the peer-reviewed journal of the American Heart Association. Dr. Rao has established the first office-based vein center for BayCare Medical Group at their Wesley Chapel location. He’s affiliated with BayCare Hospital Wesley Chapel.
