- Dr. Prashant Sukharamwala is fellowship trained in liver, pancreas and foregut surgery and board certified in general surgery. He earned his Doctor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery at Government Medical College in Surat, India and completed a general surgery internship at New York Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn. Dr. Sukharamwala completed his general surgery residency through Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus and Northside Medical Center in Youngstown, Ohio, where he acted as chief resident. He went on to complete fellowships in advanced gastrointestinal and hepatopancreaticobiliary surgery and robotic foregut and hepatopancreatobiliary surgery at Florida Hospital in Tampa. Dr. Sukharamwala‘s clinical interests include the treatment of benign and malignant tumors of the liver, bile duct, pancreas and esophagus. A major portion of his practice includes robotics and single-site laparoscopy. He has a very strong research background with numerous publications and presentations at national meetings of the American College of Surgeons, the Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association, the Pancreas Club, Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, and the Southeastern Surgical Congress. Dr. Sukharamwala is also director of foregut and hepatobiliary surgery and gastrointestinal surgical oncology at St. Joseph’s Hospital. He is a member of the Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association and is fluent in Hindi and Gujarati.
