    • Dr. Michael Kayatta specializes in general thoracic and cardiovascular surgery. He has a particular focus on minimally invasive and robotic cardiothoracic surgery. He treats patients with, among others, the following medical conditions: coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease (aortic stenosis, mitral regurgitation, etc), lung cancer, mediastinal masses, myasthenia gravis and thymoma. He received his undergraduate degree in biotechnology from Claremont McKenna College in Claremont, California. After graduation, he completed a lung cancer research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. He subsequently earned his Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. He continued his medical education by completing a general surgery internship and cardiothoracic surgery residency at Emory University, including an elective in robotic cardiothoracic surgery at Lankenau Medical Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Kayatta has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles in publications such as The Annals of Thoracic Surgery and the Journal of Thoracic Cardiovascular Surgery. He is a member of Society of Thoracic Surgeons and the Southern Thoracic Surgical Association.
