Doctor Bio
Dr. Michael Kayatta is board certified in thoracic surgery and treats patients age 18 and older, as part of BayCare Medical Group in Clearwater, Florida who have a variety of medical conditions including coronary artery disease, valvular heart diseases (aortic stenosis, mitral regurgitation, etc.), lung cancer, mediastinal masses and thymoma.
Dr. Kayatta received his undergraduate degree in biotechnology from Claremont McKenna College in Claremont, California, and after graduation completed a lung cancer research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. Dr. Kayatta subsequently earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. He completed a general surgery internship, followed by a cardiothoracic surgery residency/fellowship, all while at Emory.
Dr. Kayatta has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles in publications such as The Annals of Thoracic Surgery and the Journal of Thoracic Cardiovascular Surgery. He’s a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and the Southern Thoracic Surgical Association, as well as the American College of Surgeons.
