Very quiet and seems over busy

Did not discuss need for any lab tests. Three days later I received lab orders in the main with no note or message. Just the lab order. Unfortunately, this is the usual way things are done. It is always for the same routine tests so I think they should be done prior to the office visit so that the results can be discussed during the visit.

Dr. Irvin is very good. Listens to your concerns and develops a plan of care.

He wrote a script for routine bloodwork, but did not ask me if I was interested in getting any specific bloodwork completed. I guess I need to be more assertive.

Hes very nice but doesnt really seem to care all that much about my health issues or concerns. Asked about one if meds and when I told him I wasnt taking it because if the cost he didnt offer alternatives or mention how/why it might be important or even why it was ok for me to drop it.

I have an extremely complicated case and Dr. Irvin does not have the time to properly coordinate my care. The amount of information flooding in from specialists and me is overwhelming and since I have several rare conditions, the medical science is often very specialized. I respect that he does not speculate in areas where he is not comfortable with his understanding and he does not make excuses for not having the time to do extensive research to keep pace. He is very supportive and we have developed a good relationship. I have an extensive background in healthcare, particularly involving primary care with accountable care organizations, so, in my personal and professional opinion, he is a standout. I understand the pressures of RVUs and practice flow-through. My primary concern is that he is so busy, he cannot focus on the patients that need him the most. That is a systemic problem, not his. My hope is that BayCare takes its commitment to being patient centric more to heart and finds a way to make the time for patients like me who need his attention more frequently for better coordination and chart review, case research and care.

Every experience I have had with Dr Irvin, has been a positive one. Highly recommend him and his entire staff.
