Dr. L. Felipe Chavarriaga is board certified in general surgery and vascular surgery. He serves the Tampa, Florida community as part of BayCare Medical Group and sees patients age 18 and older. Dr. Chavarriaga earned his Doctor of Medicine at CES University in Medellin, Colombia. He continued his medical education by completing a general surgery residency at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. He then completed a minimal invasive surgery research fellowship at Emory University and a vascular surgery fellowship at Southern Illinois University in Springfield, Illinois. Additionally, Dr. Chavarriaga is trained in vascular ultrasound, obtaining the Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation (RPVI) certifification.
Dr. Chavarriaga specializes in vascular and endovascular surgery and his special interests are in open and endovascular revascularization of the lower extremities, cerebrovascular disease (open and endovascular carotid artery revascularization), and aortic surgery including open and endovascular repair of abdominal aortic aneurysms and aortic occlusive disease. Dr. Chavarriaga is fluent in Spanish.
