Doctor Bio
Dr. Jeremy Ringewald is fellowship trained in pediatric and congenital interventional cardiology, is board certified in pediatric cardiology and is with BayCare Medical Group in Tampa Bay, Florida, where he sees patients from birth throughout adulthood. Before joining BayCare Medical Group, he practiced at Pediatric Cardiology Associates, was on the faculty at the Medical University of South Carolina (2004-09) in Charleston, South Carolina, and was on the faculty at the Children’s Hospital at the University of Oklahoma Medical Center (2001-04) in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Dr. Ringewald earned a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Illinois in Chicago, Illinois, and performed a pediatric internship and residency at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital/Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. He completed a pediatric cardiology fellowship at Children’s Memorial Hospital/Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois, and a pediatric interventional cardiology fellowship at Texas Children's Hospital/Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.
Dr. Ringewald was the first pediatric interventional cardiologist in Oklahoma and the first in the state to close an atrial septal defect and a ventricular septal defect without open-heart surgery. At the Medical University of South Carolina, he served as co-director of the cardiac catheterization labs and director of the heart transplant program. While there, Dr. Ringewald contributed to several U.S. FDA clinical trials testing new devices and new medications in the catheterization lab. He has performed over 6,000 cardiac catheterizations and is a national leader in the field. Dr. Ringewald is a consultant for several medical industry vendors and teaches other physicians to perform the procedures he helped pioneer. He’s also an experienced researcher and has published numerous articles in medical journals.
A few of the interventional program milestones achieved under Dr. Ringewald’s leadership at St. Joseph’s Hospital include many first applications, such as the Medtronic/Melody transcatheter pulmonary valve in Tampa Bay, the Edwards/Sapien transcatheter pulmonary valve in central Florida, the Gore/Cardioform ASD device in Florida, the Abbott/Piccolo device implant in a NICU premie in Tampa Bay, the Medtronic/Harmony transcatheter pulmonary valve in Florida, a Renata/Minima infant stent in the Southeastern U.S., and the world’s leading implanter of Alterra/Sapien transcatheter pulmonary valves in 2023.
Dr. Ringewald educates his patients and their families about their unique cardiac conditions and includes them when developing the most viable treatment plan. He’s a Fellow of the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions. Dr. Ringewald has served as the director of the cardiac catheterization labs at St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital for over 10 years. He’s affiliated with St. Joseph’s Hospital, St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital and many other hospitals throughout Tampa Bay.
