Javier A. Nieves-Costas, MD

Dr. Javier Nieves-Costas is board certified in internal medicine and part of BayCare Medical Group, where he sees patients age 18 and older. He earned his undergraduate degree, with honors, in biology from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez, Puerto Rico and his Doctor of Medicine from the Ponce School of Medicine in Ponce, Puerto Rico. He then completed a gastroenterology fellowship at the University of South Florida in Tampa. As a student at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez, Dr. Nieves-Costas was the founding member of the Medical Student Association of Puerto Rico. His clinical interests include swallowing disorders and inflammatory bowel disease. He is also certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and advanced cardiac life support. Dr. Nieves-Costas is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the American College of Physicians and the American Medical Association.
