Doctor Bio
Dr. Grant Geissler is an experienced, board certified pediatric surgeon, with over 24 years of clinical practice experience. He is part of BayCare Medical Group in Tampa, Florida, where he sees patients up to age 18. He received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois, graduating AOA. His residency in general surgery was completed at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas, which included a one-year research fellowship in transplant immunology at UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. Dr. Geissler then completed a pediatric surgery fellowship at Temple University's St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a program with a high volume of liver and kidney transplants.
Dr. Geissler practiced for some 24 years in Chicago, a mixture of academic and busy clinical practice. He has held assistant professor positions at Northwestern University Medical School (Children's Memorial Hospital) in Chicago, Illinois and the University of Illinois College of Medicine. He has been the director of surgical education at Children's Memorial and the site director for general surgery residency at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois. He has contributed to peer reviewed articles in pediatric surgery, transplantation, and oncology. He belongs to the American Pediatric Surgical Association, the Association of Surgical Educators, and the Association of Program Directors. He is a Fellow in the American College of Surgery and the American Academy of Pediatrics. He believes in community outreach to improve accessibility to pediatric surgical care for all children, and adheres to the golden rule" of pediatric surgery to treat all patients as if they were your own children.
