Dr Durgan came in and sat down, introduced herself and asked how I was doing since learning of the breast cancer. She then went on to explain everything available surgical wise. Then she explained what further testing, Dr appointments they would make to expedite seeing them. She is very knowledgeable, caring, listens to what I have to say, and just made me feel so comfortable with everything. After she left her Nurse Navigator Gillian came in and sat down, introduced herself and her role. She went over all the appointments, testing, pre op instructions, post op instructions. She then showed me the bra with rings that they will put on post op. She explained the JP drain and how to milk it, empty it and squeeze to get suction pressure for drainage. She explained the chart to fill out for the drainage and explained the importance of using it. All the information was also in a pink folder for me to read over. She told us she is available to help in anyway that I needed.
