Dennis J. Tishko, MD

Dr. Dennis Tishko is board certified in thoracic surgery and is with BayCare Medical Group in Tampa, Florida, where he sees patients age 18 and older. He earned a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio, and completed a general surgery residency at Harvard/Deaconess Surgical Service-Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Tishko completed advanced fellowships in thoracic and cardiovascular surgery at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinic in Madison, Wisconsin, and thoracic, cardiovascular and artificial internal organs research at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio. 

Dr. Tishko's clinical interests include lung cancer, pulmonary nodules, pleural effusion and lymph node biopsies. He is a passionate proponent of lung cancer screening and finds it essential for early detection and treatment. He uses the full spectrum of thoracic surgical techniques, including extensive use of video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS), thoracotomy, bronchoscopy, mediastinoscopy, robotics, biopsy and proper node dissections for obtaining a diagnosis and treatment plan. Dr. Tishko is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Florida Medical Association, the International Society of Minimally Invasive Surgery, and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American College of Chest Physicians. He is affiliated with St. Joseph's Hospital.
