Doctor Bio
Dr. Dean Gobo is board certified in neurological surgery and serves the Clearwater, Florida area as part of BayCare Medical Group, where he sees patients age 18 and older. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from Drexel University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He followed up his medical training by completing a general surgery internship at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia, a neurosurgery residency at Rhode Island Hospital/Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island and then a clinical neurosurgery and neurotrauma fellowship at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, Massachusetts.
Dr. Gobo's clinical interests include minimally invasive spine techniques and gamma knife radiosurgery. Dr. Gobo has contributed his medical expertise to numerous peer-related organizations and publications, including the American Association of Neurological Surgeons. He is a member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, American Medical Association, Florida Medical Association, Pinellas County Medical Society, Florida Neurological Society and the International Spine Arthroplasty Society.
Dr. Gobo is presently the chairman of the Morton Plant Spine Section, where his surgical team is only one of four in the world performing frameless, deep brain stimulation (DBS) surgery with the Mazor® robot.
