He was super nice and very informative

I was told surgery would be 98% repair to normal. It is NOT even close to that. I still have MAJOR pain of unexplained source/location. I am meeting with my primary Monday to review the MRI. Hopefully this will reveal the problem areas. Dr. Mickler has proposed deadening the nerves at spinal 4 and 5 to see if this helps If not, he proposes a fusion...No more operations until WE see the MRI and the obvious problems.

Dr Mickler was referred to me by my Nuerologist. Having been told how conservative he is on performing surgery. I thank goodness I did not continue with the recommended surgery from another Back Surgeon as scheduled. The previous surgery would have required 3 incisions, plates rods and screws with a 12 week recovery and 3 nights in the hospital. Compared to Dr Micklers 2 small incisions and 1 night in hospital with a 2 week recovery.

Dr. Mickler did not listen to my concerns of my pain. Did not perform the tests that he included in office visit notes.

Ed reviewed my records from August surgery and current MRI. He and Dr. MIckler assured me no more surgery was needed and recommended a nerve block to relieve pain. Dr. Mickler asked if the pain was as intense as he had been before the surgery and I assured him it wasnt but severe and making normal walking difficult.

Dr. Mickler completely explained what was going on in the back and gave us assurance surgery was not necessary at this time, that an injection should solve the issue.

Honest , efficient , willing to take time to discuss options and explain.

His agenda was different than mine.

It seems the doctor doesnt agree with what the surgeon at the VA is concerned with. Apparently, he would rather I get steroid shots that are not working.

I dont think I was listened to concerning my back problems. He looked at old MRI and said that all was fine. Didnt take a new one to even see what was going on with my back.

One of the problems Ive had with my provider it was information both after surgery and my follow-up appointment is communication. I was told by the doctor I could start exercising again in two weeks when I went to the office for my two week follow up. The nurse told me no you have eight more weeks to go. My last visit I asked the doctor again and he said I couldve exercised in two weeks and kind of blew off the nurses comment. He told me I need to have physical therapy and I should exercise the pool and that would give me a brochure on stretching. I love the office all I received was the brochure and stretching. When my husband and I got to the car we realized we didnt get a referral for physical therapy, so I called the office and they asked the doctor and the doctor said I dont need physical therapy. My husband and I both told the person on the phone reset right there with Dr. Michael or said I didnt need it . The nurse said well. This is what the doctor said. Seems very unprofessional to me.

Dr was friendly but professional. Did not try to push me into surgery. Explained procedure well and answered my questions.

Christopher R. Mickler, DO neurosurgeon is very kind and made me feel at east about how Im invasive the surgery called a Microdiscectomy. He was right too. Had the surgery yesterday and have so little pain and walking and eating as normal.

I couldnt ask for a better experience! He is an exceptional human being!

Dr. Mickler is a superb surgeon. Back surgery went exactly as described. Post op directions easy to follow. Explanations pre and post op were clear. He is engaged with his patients and offers confidence that all will go well, which it did.

Dr Mickler is an excellent surgeon. He delivered on his promise in that he told me my nerve pain down my entire left side would be gone while I healed. Also that Id be much better having a fusion..he was right..so far at least. He is caring, kind, a good listener and in One visit in January I booked my March surgery. I appreciate his up beat demeanor while still having a serious side to him . Great Doc! He came highly recommended to me by one of his former patients.
