Doctor Bio
Dr. Christopher Comey is a fellowship-trained and board-certified neurological surgeon. He is part of BayCare Medical Group and sees patients age 18 and older. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey/Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in Piscataway, New Jersey. He then completed an internship in general surgery and a residency in neurological surgery at the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Dr. Comey continued his medical education by completing a complex spine fellowship at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.
Dr. Comey is an accomplished author, having written various articles for numerous peer-reviewed publications, including The Journal of Neurosurgery and Contemporary Neurosurgery. His philosophy of care for his patients is conservative, as he doesn’t want his patients to have to go through unnecessary surgery. His professional reward comes when his patients feel better and can resume their daily activities. Dr. Comey takes time to really listen to his patient’s concerns and complaints and finds it’s important to work with them when developing a treatment plan after a diagnosis is determined. His special interests include, minimally invasive surgery, cervical disk replacement and other spine related issues. He is a member of the American Academy of Physician Leadership and the American Association of Neurological Surgeons He is affiliated with St. Joseph’s Hospital.
