Dr. Christina Layton is board certified in general surgery and specializes in breast surgery. She’s a member of BayCare Medical Group in Riverview, Florida, where she sees patients age 18 and older. Dr. Layton earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Bradenton, Florida, completed a general surgery residency at Florida Atlantic University, Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine in Boca Raton, Florida, and completed a fellowship in breast surgical oncology from the University of Miami/Jackson Health System in Miami, Florida.
Dr. Layton specializes in treating patients with benign and malignant breast disease. Her specific areas of expertise include hormone receptor positive and negative breast cancer, inflammatory breast cancer and genetic mutations that increase the risk of cancer. She educates her patients about their diagnoses and walks them through the steps of a surgical procedure, if needed. Dr. Layton has contributed numerous articles to peer-reviewed publications like The American Surgeon, Annals of Breast Surgery, Annals of Surgical Oncology and Advances in Radiation Oncology. She’s a member of the American College of Surgeons, the American Society of Breast Surgeons and the Association of Women Surgeons. Dr. Layton is affiliated with St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital and St. Joseph’s Hospital-South.
