Doctor Bio
Dr. Christian Cignoni is board certified in cardiothoracic surgery and is with BayCare Medical Group in Clearwater, Florida, where he sees patients age 18 and older. He earned his undergraduate degree in biochemistry and molecular biology from the University of Miami in Miami, Florida, and performed research at the Miller School of Medicine. Dr. Cignoni earned his Doctor of Medicine from Ross University School of Medicine in Dominica, West Indies, completed a general surgery residency at the University of Central Florida in Ocala, Florida, and completed a cardiothoracic surgery fellowship at Baylor Scott & White - The Heart Hospital in Plano, Texas.
His clinical interests include arrhythmia, aortic root, aortic valve, mitral valve and coronary revascularization surgery. Dr. Cignoni performs many cardiothoracic procedures including transcatheter aortic valve replacement, MitraClip and video-assisted thoracic surgery. He’s trained and certified in minimally invasive surgery using the da Vinci® robotic system. Dr. Cignoni has authored articles in peer-reviewed publications, including the Journal of the American College of Surgeons and The American Surgeon. He’s a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Cignoni is affiliated with Morton Plant Hospital. Dr. Cignoni speaks Spanish.
