Doctor Bio
Dr. Ahmed Mahmoud is triple-board certified in thoracic surgery, trauma surgery and general surgery and is with BayCare Medical Group in Tampa, Florida, where he sees patients age 18 and older. He earned his medical degree and completed a general surgery residency at Ain-Shams University in Cairo, Egypt, and completed a surgery residency at Providence Hospital in Southfield, Michigan. Dr. Mahmoud completed fellowships in trauma/surgical critical care at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, Maryland, and cardiovascular thoracic surgery at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois.
He served as a residency program director at the University of California, Riverside and at other surgery residency programs, where he trained and graduated more than 80 surgeons now in practice in hospitals across the country. Dr. Mahmoud’s clinical areas of interest and practice include thoracic surgery, thyroid, parathyroid and neck surgery, as well as general surgery using minimally invasive techniques. He’s a member of the Society of Critical Care, the Association of Program Directors in Surgery, the Association of Surgical Education and the East Association of Surgeons in Trauma. Dr. Mahmoud serves as the program director for the St. Joseph’s Hospital Surgery Residency Program. He’s affiliated with BayCare St. Joseph’s Hospital.
