Few people realize that diabetes is the leading cause of new cases of blindness among adults. It can also contribute to gum disease, pregnancy complications and depression. In fact, the Centers for Disease Control reports that people with diabetes are twice as likely to have depression, and depression is associated with a 60% increased risk of type 2 diabetes.
