Substance Use Treatment in Pasco, Pinellas, Hernando, and Hillsborough Counties

Substance Use Disorders

Addiction is a chronic disease which affects approximately one in six Americans. The ongoing or frequent use of alcohol or drugs can cause a significant impact on a person’s life physically, mentally and/or socially. While symptoms of addiction may be different for each person, there are some common signs and symptoms:

  • Substances are used in large amounts and often over long periods of time
  • Continued use of drugs or alcohol despite experiencing negative consequences
  • Attempts to stop or lessen use of substances fail
  • Strong want or need to use the substance
  • Failure to handle usual responsibilities
  • Missing work or school
  • Home environment suffers including conflict with loved ones
  • Trouble understanding or relating to other people
  • Substance used in harmful or dangerous situations
  • Poor sleep, hygiene and eating habits
  • Change in appearance, personality or attitude
  • Keeping secrets or lying
  • Legal or financial problems

While there isn’t a cure for addiction, recovery is possible with treatment and long-term management of the disease. If you or a loved one is experiencing any of the signs or symptoms above, it is important to talk to a behavioral health professional for an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan.
