Listed below you will find information commonly used when establishing (or distributing) a major gift, gift of securities, or planned/deferred gift to the Winter Haven Hospital Foundation.

We encourage you to remember the Winter Haven Hospital Foundation as a beneficiary in your will or living trust and in the beneficiary designations of your qualified retirement plans, life insurance policies, or other financial assets. Please contact us when making your philanthropic plans. We wish to thank you personally for your thoughtful generosity and want to ensure that the Foundation can use your contribution according to your wishes.

Bequest Language
The preferred legal bequest language for the Winter Haven Hospital Foundation is as follows:

"I give, devise and bequeath to the Winter Haven Hospital Foundation, a qualified 501(c)(3) charitable organization and nonprofit corporation, as described in Section 170 (c) of the Internal Revenue Code, located in Winter Haven, Florida ..."

  • (cash bequest) "... the sum of ____ dollars ($____)."
  • (stock bequest) "... ____ shares of common stock of ____ Corporation."
  • (estate percentage) "... ____ percent ( ____%) of the residue of my estate."
  • (specific asset) "... ____ (personal or real property appropriately described)."

To further designate your gift, please include the following language accordingly:
"I request that this gift be used ..."

  • "... for (unrestricted support, research, patient care services, etc.) in the (center of excellence, department, program, etc.)."
  • "... to establish the (name chosen by donor) fund for ____, in the area of ____ (center of excellence, department, program, etc.)."
  • "... to establish the (name chosen by donor) endowed fund, the income of which should be used for ____ (unrestricted support, research, patient care services, etc.), in the area of ____ (center of excellence, department, program, etc.) in perpetuity."

Endowed vs. current use
When you include the Winter Haven Hospital Foundation in your estate plans, please remember to include documentation about whether you would like the gift to be held in perpetuity (endowed) or used for current needs (spendable). Please remember that we are here to help with the appropriate verbiage to ensure your intent is clearly understood.

Gift agreements
To be sure that your gift will be used exactly as you intend, the Foundation offers gift agreements as a service to our donors. Gift agreements are used to specify explicit details regarding the uses and limitations of your contributions according to your wishes.
