Featured Services

Outpatient Services

BayCare offers psychiatric evaluations and outpatient therapy for individuals and families who don’t require inpatient treatment. Patients live in their own home, remain with family and maintain a job while still receiving treatment through therapy and medication management.

For those needing a higher level of support, BayCare Behavioral Health offers intensive outpatient programs, available for adults and adolescents. These programs involve three hours of therapy, three days per week, over six to eight weeks. Topics covered include boundary setting, healthy communication, grief and loss, trauma and safety.

Children’s and Adolescent Services

BayCare offers comprehensive services for children age 3 and older. We support children and adolescents who are facing behavioral, social, family, school or substance-related challenges to help them build resilience, manage stress and thrive in life. Each patient has a thorough, individualized evaluation to guide their personalized treatment plan. With inpatient, outpatient and telehealth options available, families can access care in the best way for them.

Inpatient Services

Treatment in our inpatient units and facilities includes acute care services as well as medication management, crisis intervention and emotional support. BayCare has nine inpatient behavioral health centers in West Central Florida:

All are Baker Act-receiving facilities and are designed for short-term stays (three to seven days) and emergency mental health evaluation and treatment.

Community-Based Services

BayCare offers a variety of community-based programs that provide services outside a hospital or office setting. These include:
  • Case Management
BayCare’s case management services connect adults, children and families with essential medical, social, educational and community resources. Case managers coordinate care to reduce the risk of out-of-home placement, address unmet needs and strengthen family stability. Support is flexible and can be provided in a variety of settings, including homes, schools and other community locations.
  • Community Action Team (CAT)
The CAT is designed to allow children ages 11 to 21, who have significant behavioral health needs, to remain at home rather than entering residential facilities, foster care and juvenile detention. This team focuses on strengthening relationships within the family and developing a natural support system for the patient through individual, family and group counseling, case management and mentoring. The CAT is committed to improving school performance and overall functioning by giving families the skills to maintain long-term progress.
  • Community Health Activation Team (CHAT)
The CHAT empowers individuals to make positive, informed decisions about their health and wellness, so they can stay healthy at every stage of life. Our interdisciplinary team of mental health professionals, nurses and prevention specialists offer free one-time presentations, group sessions and training at jails, schools and community centers. These efforts expand access to care, promote safe community environments and help reduce health disparities.
  • Family Intensive Treatment (FIT)
The FIT team provides services that are designed to support families in the child welfare system where parental substance use has created unsafe conditions. The program works with the entire family to strengthen protective factors, enhance safety and support consistent child well-being. The team accepts referrals from child protective investigators, dependency case managers, dependency courts and community-based care organizations.
  • Florida Assertive Community Treatment (FACT)
The FACT team delivers intensive, community-based care for eligible adults in Pasco County. The program provides comprehensive treatment, rehabilitation and support services for individuals living with severe and persistent mental illness or co-occurring disorders, helping them maintain stability at home and improve overall quality of life.
  • Family Support Team (FST)
The FST provides intensive, family-centered support across home, school and community settings. The team serves youth up to age 21, and their families, who are experiencing significant challenges, including frequent disruptions or a heightened risk of out-of-home placement. To strengthen family stability and promote long-term well-being, the FST offers a full range of services, including therapy, case management and psychiatric care, tailored to meet the needs of each child and their caregivers.
  • Project for Assistance in Transition From Homelessness (PATH)
PATH provides case management and care navigation for individuals who have serious mental illness or a co-occurring substance use disorder. It supports people who are experiencing homelessness or are at immediate risk of losing their housing.
  • School-Based Services
BayCare offers a variety of programs and teams within schools that include Counseling to Optimize Mental Health and Promote Achievement in Student Success (COMPASS), the Community Health Activation Team, the Family Support Team and case management services.
