Hospital Bill

Hospital Bill

You can also pay your hospital bill online here.

Billing Procedures

As a courtesy, we will bill your insurance company for you. We will need your help in assuring that your hospital bill is paid in a timely manner.

  • We will update your insurance information at each visit to avoid rejections or long delays in payment, which is why we need to copy your insurance card.
  • We will attempt to verify your insurance coverage, although this is not always possible.
  • Your bill will normally be sent to your insurance company within five days.
  • If your insurance company should request information from you, please mail this information immediately, as they will not pay the hospital until received.
  • If no payment has been received in 45 days, a reminder will be mailed to you. We suggest that you contact your insurance company directly to resolve any issues.
  • Some insurance companies have restrictions on the time frame you can add your newborn on to your policy. Please contact them ahead of time to ensure that your newborn is covered on your insurance policy.

Deductibles and Co-Insurance

Payments are due at time of services. Your insurance mandates these fees. Please review your policy or contact your insurance company to determine the amount. When you arrive at St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital, the registrar will request payment and provide a receipt. The following credit cards can be used to pay deductibles, co-insurance and any balance after your insurance payment: MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express.

Inability to Pay

If you do not have insurance and/or are unable to pay for health care services, please contact our Medical Assistance Program at (813) 872-3993. You may qualify for one of several programs that could assist with payment of your hospital bill now and allow for coverage in the future.

HMO Authorization

If you belong to and HMO, it may require you to receive authorization from your primary care physician before it will pay for services. Effective Oct. 1, 2000, Florida Statue 641.315 requires HMOs to be more timely in approving or denying services and to pay their bills more promptly. If your HMO refuses to authorize and/or denies the service you received, payment of the entire hospital bill may be your responsibility.

Other Bills

In addition to our hospital bill, you may receive separate bills from various physicians or specialists called in on your case by your attending physician. As they are not employed by St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital, they will bill you directly for their services.

For more information about your hospital bill, please call (813) 852-3504.

For your convenience, we have listed below the most common providers and their phone numbers. The providers may or may not be participants in your insurance/managed care plan which may result in financial responsibilities different than what you experience with your St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital bill. If you have any questions regarding a bill other than your hospital bill, please call them directly.
