Lithotripsy

Lithotripsy uses shock waves to split and fracture stones in the bladder, kidney or the tube that transports urine from the kidneys to the bladder (ureter). Following lithotripsy, small pieces of stone leave the body when urine is passed. Lithotripsy is used for stones that cause urinary tract infections, that cause kidney damage, that bleed and are painful.
