Kidney Removal

Kidney removal, also known as nephrectomy, takes out a portion of a kidney or an entire kidney. Sometimes, the adrenal glands and nearby lymph nodes are removed along with an entire kidney. Kidneys are removed for cancer, infection, kidney stones, traumatic injuries to the kidney and birth defects. It is also removed for individuals having blood supply problems to the kidney. Kidneys are also removed in an individual donating a kidney.
