Nasal CPAP

CPAP is an acroynm for "continous positive airway pressure." A nasal CPAP machine is used during sleep and sends pressurized air into the windpipe airways so the windpipe remains open. In individuals with sleep apnea and other breathing conditions, the windpipe does not stay open. The air sent by the CPAP machine stops the airway from collapsing .
