Orthopedic Nurse Navigators at BayCare – Guiding you Through Joint Replacement Surgery
BayCare hospitals feature Orthopedic Nurse Navigators, who are here to “navigate” you through your total joint replacement. The Navigators coordinate your care before, during, and after joint replacement surgery. They will work with you, your family members, physicians, nurses, therapists and other team members to help provide you the best possible care, taking time with you each day while you are in the hospital (Mon-Fri) to make sure all of your needs are being met.
Our Nurse Navigators work closely with you and your family members to form a relationship that promotes a positive experience, faster recovery after total joint replacement and comprehensive patient care. Surgery can be an overwhelming process and our Nurse Navigators are committed to helping you feel at ease and coordinate individual, customized care plans from start to finish, answering any questions or concerns along the way.
After your joint replacement surgery, our Nurse Navigators will visit you daily to review and reinforce the plan of care, focusing on activity, deep vein thrombosis (DVT) prevention, diet, pain control, medication side effects and discharge planning. After a patient is discharged, our Navigator continues to communicate with you and your family members to ensure a successful discharge. Our goal is to keep you out of the hospital and on the fast track to a life of mobility.
