Corpus Callosotomy for Epilepsy

Corpus callosotomy is epilepsy surgery aimed at stopping the spread of seizures from one side of the brain to the other. In the procedure, a band of nerve fibers connecting the two halves or hemispheres of the brain is severed. This separation eliminates communication between the two hemispheres. This surgery is for children with severe epilepsy whose seizures result in falls and injuries.
